Maria Flygare is an experienced international lawyer and Global General Counsel for Project Yananai. 

She is responsible for creating and leading Yananai’s global legal department, coordinating the work of its foundations in India, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Her role includes building governance frameworks, drafting global policies, and ensuring compliance with local and international regulations to support Yananai’s mission of protecting and empowering children.

Maria is qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales, Finland, and Spain, and brings over 20 years of legal experience spanning Europe, Latin America, and Africa. She has advised multinational companies on corporate governance, competition law, M&A, and regulatory compliance. Her career includes leadership roles at Belron International Ltd in London, where she advised on global legal strategy from the company’s headquarters, and founding her own successful law firm, Justitum Attorneys at Law, in Helsinki, which grew to support international clients across Europe.

She has also worked with Baker & McKenzie in Mexico City, advising Fortune 500 clients on competition law and cross-border transactions, and continues to be active as a speaker on international governance and legal topics. Fluent in English, Finnish, and Spanish, with strong Swedish, Maria brings a multicultural and collaborative perspective to her work.
