Kerry Taylor-Smith
Chief People and Governance Officer
Kerry is an experienced HR Senior Director with extensive board-level expertise, joining Project Yananai as Chief People and Governance Officer. She serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Global Executive Leadership Team, ensuring the organisation's people are supported by exemplary practices and its governance frameworks meet the highest standards of integrity expected of a leading global nonprofit.
Her career is defined by a proven ability to shape people strategy, build leadership capability, and transform organisational culture while balancing exceptional employee experience with the commercial pragmatism required to deliver sustainable mission impact.
Most recently, Kerry served as People Director and Executive Board Member at Spirit Health Group (2018–2025), reporting directly to the CEO as a full member of the Executive Board. She held full ownership of people strategy, leadership development, culture, workforce planning, and organisational design across the group. She strengthened executive and board effectiveness through leadership alignment and coaching, and led a multi-year culture and engagement transformation recognised through sustained national awards. She also delivered complex change programmes including restructures and acquisitions, providing executive coaching and mediation that rebuilt trust and safeguarded performance at the highest levels.
Since 2011, Kerry has been Founder of KSN Consultancy, providing high-level strategic people consultancy to organisations across multiple sectors. Her work spans culture transformation, organisational design, executive coaching, talent strategy, and mediation for complex people issues. She has also delivered specialist consultancy in highly regulated environments, including regulatory compliance, audit, and governance support—experience that directly informs her oversight of Project Yananai's governance obligations.
Her earlier career includes senior HR leadership roles at DFDS Logistics, where she led HR, legal, and talent development across a national workforce of over 1,000 employees, playing a key role in acquisitions and business integration. As HR and Legal Manager at Quayside Distribution, she was a Senior Management Team member responsible for HR, legal, and reward for over 300 employees, managing complex employee relations, tribunals, and regulatory compliance.
Kerry holds an MSc. in Human Resource Management and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD. She holds a National Certificate in Workplace Mediation, is a certified DISC Practitioner, and is a qualified Mental Health First Aider.
Throughout her career, Kerry has been recognised for her sound judgment, credibility at board level, and calm, decisive leadership in complex environments. She has a consistent track record of strengthening executive effectiveness, building leadership capability and succession depth, and reducing organisational risk through robust governance.
