Deputy Country Director – Head of Resourcing and Administration
Joyce is a seasoned development leader with 27 years of progressive experience in community empowerment, rural development, and resource mobilization across Zambia. As Deputy Country Director – Head of Resourcing and Administration at Project Yananai Zambia, Joyce brings a wealth of expertise in program management, institutional capacity building, donor relations, and the strategic allocation of resources to drive sustainable impact at scale.
Joyce’s background encompasses extensive work in food security, nutrition, gender equity, integrated agriculture, WASH, enterprise development, and HIV/AIDS mitigation. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Copperbelt University, a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies from Zambian Open University, and a Diploma in Food and Nutrition from the Natural Resources Development College (NRDC).
Throughout her career, Joyce has held pivotal roles with leading organizations such as Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA), Heifer International, and Care International Zambia. As Country Director for the USAID Farmer-to-Farmer program at CNFA, she coordinated all national activities, managed diverse teams—including staff, government extension workers, and international volunteers and built strong partnerships with government and donor agencies. Her leadership ensured the successful delivery of technical assistance and capacity building to farmer organizations, enhancing food security and livelihoods for thousands of rural households.
At Heifer International, Joyce excelled in resource mobilization, successfully securing and managing multi-million dollar grants from Oxfam Hong Kong, ELANCO, UKAID, the World Bank, the World Food Program, African Development Bank, and Irish Aid. Her stewardship benefited more than 29,000 households across Zambia’s Copperbelt and Eastern Provinces. She provided strategic oversight of program implementation, led high-performing teams, ensured rigorous financial compliance, and championed gender-responsive programming for women’s economic empowerment.
Joyce is also an experienced trainer and facilitator, with a strong track record in proposal development, monitoring & evaluation, donor compliance, and institutional strengthening. She is proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and communicates fluently in English, Luvale, Nyanja, Tonga, and Bemba.
Renowned for her collaborative leadership, commitment to good governance, and passion for inclusive development, Joyce has dedicated her career to building dignified, sustainable livelihoods for Zambia’s most vulnerable communities. At Project Yananai, she oversees all aspects of resourcing and administration, ensuring operational excellence, transparent grant management, and the strategic mobilisation of resources.
