Freedom is an astute and accomplished legal professional with a wealth of experience spanning corporate law, litigation, legal research, and legislative drafting within Zimbabwe’s public and private sectors. He brings a strong track record of providing sound legal advice, ensuring statutory compliance, and navigating complex legal landscapes to safeguard organizational interests and promote operational excellence.
Freedom holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master of Laws (LLM) in Constitutional and Human Rights Law from Midlands State University, and a Master of Commercial Law with a specialization in Corporate and Securities Law from the University of Zimbabwe. He is a registered Legal Practitioner and Conveyancer (Law Society of Zimbabwe) and holds a Certificate in Legislative Drafting from the Centre for Applied Legal Research.
Currently serving as Corporate Legal Counsel at the Insurance and Pensions Commission, Freedom is responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts and policies, conducting legal research, rendering legal opinions, and providing strategic legal advice to internal departments. He manages litigation processes, analyses judgments, and ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks, including drafting and amending legislation.
Previously, Freedom served as Acting State Counsel II in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, where he contributed to legal reform, law development, legislative analysis, and both criminal and civil litigation. He has also held advisory roles with the Communication and Allied Services Workers Union and the National Engineering Workers Union (ZCTU affiliate), representing clients in labour matters, court hearings, conciliations, and arbitrations.
