Deputy Regional Director - Southern Africa

Fordson is a highly accomplished development and humanitarian leader with more than 20 years of experience working with leading international NGOs across Africa. As Deputy Regional Director for Southern Africa at Project Yananai, Fordson leverages his deep expertise in program management, strategic leadership, and operational excellence to drive sustainable change across the region.

Fordson’s career spans senior leadership roles in Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, and South Sudan, where he has overseen complex, donor-funded programs with budgets ranging from $50 million to $100 million. He has successfully led multicultural teams, built strong partnerships with governments, donors, and private sector actors, and delivered impactful results in health, education, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), food security, microfinance, and humanitarian response. Fordson is recognized for his ability to transform organizations, expand program portfolios, and implement innovative solutions that respond to local needs.

His leadership has been instrumental in steering major multi-year projects, including national health initiatives, emergency responses, financial inclusion programs, and community development efforts. Fordson’s commitment to excellence is evident in his track record of resource mobilization, organizational transformation, and fostering effective governance and accountability structures.

Fordson holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Eastern University, a Bachelor of Science in Tropical Agriculture from Larenstein International Agricultural College, and an Advanced Certificate in Development Studies from the University of South Africa. He is a certified Project Manager for USAID Grants Management and PMDPro, and holds additional certification in diplomatic practice, protocol, and public relations.

An active contributor to the sector, Fordson serves on the Board of Directors for the Elizabeth Bower Zambia Education Fund and has held board roles with microfinance organizations in Malawi and Tanzania. He is a member of the Institute of Directors (Zambia Chapter) and is known for his exceptional coaching, teamwork, stakeholder engagement, and ability to lead high-performing teams through change.
