Bonani is an accomplished legal, compliance, and human resources executive with over 12 years of corporate experience across leading Johannesburg, London, and Australian Stock Exchange-listed companies. He provides strategic legal guidance, champions regulatory excellence, and empowers organizational growth through ethical and sustainable practices.
Bonani’s expertise spans the full spectrum of legal and corporate affairs, including risk mitigation, contract management, stakeholder engagement at multiple tiers of government, and compliance oversight. His extensive career includes senior leadership roles at Oza Holdings where he has served as Director: Legal and Corporate Affairs, Director: Mining Business Units, and Group Legal & Compliance Officer and at DiamondCorp PLC’s Lace Diamond Mines.
Recognized for his transformative leadership, Bonani has built and led high-performing teams, driving innovation and delivering tangible outcomes in fast-paced, dynamic environments. He is adept in negotiation, strategic thinking, critical thinking, and team leadership skills that have enabled him to foster collaboration, navigate complex regulatory landscapes, and deliver strategic results. His dedication to sustainable development is further strengthened by his commitment to ethical operations, resource optimization, and forward-looking practices.
Bonani is fluent in English, Zulu, Xhosa, and Ndebele, enabling him to connect with diverse communities and stakeholders across South Africa. He is also committed to continuous professional growth, holding certifications in Coaching for Continuous Improvement, Business Math Competence in Mining Law, and Introduction to ESG.
Academically, he holds an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in General Management from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), a Master’s degree in Extractive Industry Law in Africa from the University of Pretoria, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Mining Law from the University of the Witwatersrand, and an LLB from Walter Sisulu University.
