Deputy Chief Operations Officer

Māui is a global operations leader with a distinguished track record of driving performance, scaling operations, and delivering resilience across 70+ countries. 

As Deputy Chief Operations Officer for Project Yananai, he supports the coordination of relief operations, logistics, supply chain management, programme delivery, and operational risk – ensuring that mission delivery is executed with efficiency, resilience, and impact across the India, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Māui brings deep expertise in large-scale budgeting, multi-country security and operations, resilience frameworks, and building high-performing teams. He currently serves as Director of Operations (Resilience) at a global mobility technology company, where he leads multidisciplinary teams spanning security, intelligence, continuity, and operational resilience across 70+ countries, embedding resilience KPIs into operational dashboards and implementing organisation-wide recovery systems. As Head of Operations (Risk and Security), he governed organisational security policies across five continents, authored the global security strategy, and implemented an ISO 27001-aligned global security governance framework. Earlier, as Senior Operations Manager, he contributed to revenue growth from €56 million to €181 million and coordinated operations across a network of over 1,000 employees in 25 countries.

Previously, Māui served as Chief Operations Officer at Brigade level in the New Zealand Defence Force, directing operations across nine essential functions with over 6,000 personnel, managing a $200 million budget, and planning and executing a $5 million training regeneration programme. He was seconded to lead national logistics during the COVID-19 pandemic, pioneering the establishment and framework for the country's Managed Isolation Facilities, coordinating inter-agency teams, and repatriating returning citizens. He also led the project to build a state-of-the-art $35 million ammunition storehouse.

Māui holds a Master of International Security, a Bachelor of Logistics, Materials & Supply Chain Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Engineering, and a Bachelor of Military & Strategic Leadership. He is a recipient of the New Zealand Royal Commission from the Governor-General of New Zealand. He is passionate about building operational resilience and enabling mission-driven organisations to deliver sustainable impact in complex and resource-constrained environments.
