A business-minded and results-focused finance professional with 16 years of experience across strategic planning, financial management, accounting and compliance reporting, corporate governance and risk management, audit and assurance, budgeting, and business operational processes, Joseph brings a depth of expertise in aligning business and finance strategies to drive change management, manage costs, and enhance organisational financial viability.

Joseph has spent the past decade at REA, where he has progressed through increasingly senior finance roles. As Director of Finance, he coordinates the formulation and implementation of internal controls to enhance transparency and accountability, oversees the timely preparation of annual budgets and financial reports, manages the annual statutory external audit process, and delivers high-quality financial information to the Board. He previously served as Acting Director of Finance and as Chief Accountant, where he supervised the implementation of robust financial systems, managed organisational liquidity, oversaw payroll and fixed asset registers, and led Enterprise Risk Management for the Authority. Earlier roles at REA included Senior Accountant, where he prepared quarterly financial plans, coordinated engagement with commercial banks on fixed deposit investments, facilitated annual Technical Organisation Capacity Assessments (TOCA) by cooperating partners including the World Bank, European Union, SIDA, and JICA, and managed external audits.

Joseph's experience in the international development and non-profit sector includes his time as Senior Accounting & Finance Associate at Room to Read Zambia, where he designed cost reduction strategies, developed multi-donor reporting templates, monitored grant and cost-share expenditures, and prepared monthly and quarterly budget variance reports for key budget holders. He also served as Finance Officer at Tearfund, where he worked on a PEPFAR grant funded by USAID. There he coordinated with sub-partner organisations to develop their financial management systems, reviewed and assessed internal control environments, arranged and ensured timely completion of year-end audits, and coordinated all financial reporting to the UK office, including Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, Cost Share Reports, Income Statements, SF270/SF245, and VAT reporting. He also mentored and trained staff within Tearfund and partner organisations in financial management systems, compliance reporting, and capacity development. Earlier still, he served as Project Accountant at JCM under Catholic Relief Services (CRS), where he prepared monthly and quarterly financial reports to CRS and USAID, coordinated year-end project audits, and prepared statutory payment schedules including PAYE, Withholding Tax, NAPSA, and PACRA annual returns.

At Project Yananai, Joseph is responsible for all financial aspects of the Zambia National Management Team's operations. This includes budgeting, cash flow management, grant financial reporting, payroll, procurement oversight, internal controls, and compliance with local laws and donor requirements. He works closely with the Country Director and the global Chief Financial Officer to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently, risks are managed, and financial records are always audit-ready. He also supports the national funding team by providing budget inputs for grant proposals and ensuring that financial reports to donors are accurate and timely.

Joseph holds an MBA in Finance from the London School of Business & Finance, an Advanced Certificate in Business and Financial Analysis from the London School of Business and Finance, and is a qualified accountant through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), having studied at the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS). He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZiCA).

Joseph is committed to using his financial expertise to help Project Yananai's Zambia team deliver lasting, community-led transformation, ensuring that every resource is managed with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
